Rabbi Ash will be leading this Friday night service at 6PM (19/10/18), and a shabbat morning service at 10AM on Saturday.    However we will not have a dinner after the Fri night service; we will however have a kiddush with some food after the shabbat morning service,

Rabbi Ash is a Liberal Rabbi, and his services will follow the Liberal Jewish tradition (ie, women are full participants, the service is largely in English).  For more information on Rabbi Ash, see

ASJCC will be hosting Jewish author Tracey Rosenberg on Sunday 4th November. Tracey will be running a writers’ event (with a kosher buffet) between 2-5pm at the shul. All welcome. More details will be sent out by email nearer the time, or you can find out a little more on SCoJeC’s website


AGM, 25th November, 10.30am [provisional]. We are hoping to combine the AGM with a visit from the President of the Board of Deputies, Marie van der Zyl, so please come along to meet her.


In accordance with our Constitution, only paid-up Full Members can vote, so please ensure you have paid your 2018-19 membership in good time.

Chanukah - first night is 2nd December; join us for our annual candle-lighting party on Sunday 9th December.

About Candle-Lighting
It is considered a great mitzvah and responsibility to honour the Sabbath by lighting candles 18 minutes before sunset on Friday evening. This unique commandment, entrusted to the Jewish woman, is rich with meaning and purpose.
